Project ID: 733
Description | The role of music in restoring certain functions lost due to brain degeneration. |
Topics | Medical and Health |
Type | External research (U3A as research subjects) |
U3A | Individual U3A members, London, acting on request received by the U3A |
Organization/partner | University College London, Dementia Research Centre |
Year started | 2018 |
Source of reference | Request from university |
Notes | In the
experiment, the volunteer will be asked to listen to very familiar melodies
(pop music, classical music, Christmas carols, etc) and to detect ‘odd
notes’, either based on very simple musical rules (dissonance) or on prior
expectations of the melodic contour. At the same time the researcher will
record the reactions of the pupil. It will allow comparison between the
behavioural and physiological responses and find any dissociation between the
two. |
