| Description | The project was conceived for members of Sheffield U3A born between 1945 and 1955 in order to gather information about being a young person during the sixties. Although it may feel like yesterday, these members are now aged between 63 and 73 and a whole module within modern history courses is devoted to this period! Sharing and recording our Sixties memories now will be both enjoyable for members and useful for students. It will be important to place this decade within the context of both a post-war childhood and the changes which occurred in Seventies Britain. |

| Output | We will review progress and if there is enough energy to produce a book then we certainly have enough material. We will almost certainly run a non-residential summer school. We meet annually with university modern history students who are following the Sixties module. We could go into care homes with memory boxes and music. |
| Notes | Advance publicity and an initial open meeting in January 2018 encouraged members to engage and sign up for the topic(s) of their choice. So far about 50 members have expressed interest. The groups have set their own agendas and will meet as appropriate. The expectation is that all groups will produce tangible outcomes in time for the Sixties Evening in October 2018. Other open meetings will focus on, e.g., producing a 'Sixties Timeline', making memory boxes, recording one's life through objects from the Sixties, writing short stories about life in that decade. |
