The data we collect

If you are an editor, with access to the administration portal of the site, your username and password are stored together with a time stamp of editing actions. Please keep your password safe: it is stored only in encrypted form, not accessible to anyone, so if you lose it your credentials would need to be reset.

If you use the contact form, project submission form, or email us about the site or the database, we retain the contact details that you provide long enough to deal with your query. To retain the information for longer, we would obtain your explicit consent.

Otherwise, the only data that we collect are IP addresses of users, which are recorded automatically in a log file. We do not use this information to identify individuals or for any other purpose and would only disclose it if legally required to do so by a law enforcement agency acting with due authority or by court order. Except in those cases where we obtain explicit and specific consent to processing personal data, the lawful basis for all processing of personal data related to this site is our legitimate interest (within the meaning of Article 6.1(f) of UK-GDPR) in establishing and maintaining this database for the benefit of u3a members and other interested parties.
